Thus, continued growth is guarant<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eed by the exploitation of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">wage <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">labo<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">u<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">r<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and the depletion<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> of nature. According to Jason W. Moore, a prominent figure in critical ecological thinking, capitalism is not a soc<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">io-economic system, but a world-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ecologic<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">al nature-making praxis<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> that is <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">facilitated<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> by the ap<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">propriation of cheap nature. His main insight is that capitalism has now exhausted the Four Cheap Resources (labo<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">u<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">r<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">-power<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, food, energy, raw materials). And the end <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of Cheap Nature means that the \u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">unpaid costs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201d<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">manifest themselves as<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> ecosystem degradation and climate change, which hinder continued economic growth and thus bring<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> about a crisis of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> capitalism.
